About the Project
"House Music" was a jazz record I made with a brilliant San Francisco Bay Area rhythm section: Jack Gates (guitar), Ari Munkres (bass), and Kevin Mummey (drums).
My thoughts
I'm proud of this record; it seems to have stood the test of time reasonably well and I get a lot of complements about it. As it was my first CD it was an important step for me.
Performance
I play soprano, alto and tenor on it; the tunes are a mix of straight-ahead and Latin-tinged standards and originals as well as some free improv stuff.
Production
The record was recorded by Dave Bell at Bell Boy Studios in Richmond, CA, and co-produced by me and Mark Schleunes.
