I met Richard Lobb around 2009 or so. He was leading a weekly Thursday night jam at The Ranelagh in Bounds Green, with his house band, The Toybox Band, and holding an open mic, through which I met many great north London musicians. Sadly that ended after about five years when Richard moved to Bristol with his family, but they are enjoying life and thriving there.
In 2012, I hired the Toybox Band to play on my CD Dead Man's Cake. Richard and I produced the record. He's an incredibly musical person and I'm very happy to know him and work with him. I still do occasional gigs as a saxophone sideman with Richard and the Toybox band.
