This is a sax quartet arrangement I made of the Frank Zappa piece “Sofa” (derived from Sofa No. 1 and Sofa No. 2, from the album “One Size Fits All”). Do try this at home.

Note – this is something I transcribed back in the early 1990s, and which I’ve finally published as a PDF. It’s a blues in Gb concert from the classic “Coltrane Plays the Blues” album and has some great licks, compelling chromaticism and rhythmic playing from the master. Deep stuff. Hope you enjoy.

Note – this is an unknown recording of “Blues for Norman” – seemingly with the Basie band, judging from the background riffs. I had it on a cassette given to me by Hal in the late 80s, and don’t know which live Lester Young recording it comes from. I don’t know its original source. If you know, please drop me a line. The last few bars are cut off on the recording unfortunately.
