ABOUT THE PROJECT
“House Music” was a jazz record I made with a brilliant San Francisco Bay Area rhythm section: Jack Gates (guitar), Ari Munkres (bass), and Kevin Mummey (drums).
PERFORMANCE
I play soprano, alto and tenor on it; the tunes are a mix of straight-ahead and Latin-tinged standards and originals as well as some free improv stuff.
MY THOUGHTS
I’m proud of this record; it seems to have stood the test of time reasonably well and I get a lot of complements about it. As it was my first CD it was an important step for me.
PRODUCTION
The record was recorded by Dave Bell at Bell Boy Studios in Richmond, CA, and co-produced by me and Mark Schleunes.
